The origins of the company date back to 1963, when the foundations were laid for a future industrial company dedicated to the manufacture of trailers and semi-trailers under the TRABOSA brand.
TRABOSA began developing trailers designed for the special transport of large loads, incorporating hydraulic solutions and multi-axle configurations for moving indivisible heavy-tonnage elements.
The company manufactured hydraulic trailers for strategic national projects, such as the transport of nuclear vessels for power plants, consolidating its prestige as a manufacturer of great structural capacity and high mechanical reliability.
The Spanish Ministry of Defence became a strategic client, entrusting TRABOSA with the design of specific solutions for military transport. That same year, the first tanker trailer adapted for military use was manufactured and the first tank transporter trailer was developed.
TRABOSA established itself as a leading manufacturer of trailers and road transport vehicles in Southern Europe, Africa and Latin America.
Driven by its enduring spirit of creating innovative products, in 1982 the innovation department developed a novel four-wheeled hydraulic armoured vehicle with the aim of modernising the Spanish State's security forces, coinciding with Spain's entry into NATO.
The company consolidated its position as a benchmark in civil transport: most special transport operators equipped their fleets with TRABOSA semi-trailers.
The company expanded its presence in the European market thanks to the success of its semi-trailers, TIR bodywork and lowboy vehicles.
TRABOSA supplied military trailers designed to transport heavy tanks such as the Leopard, the Abrams and the M60.
During the 1990s, the company was highly active in the Spanish national civil transport market, and most operators specialising in special movements equipped their fleets with the new models featuring hydraulic suspension and semi-axles with adaptable necks.
TRABOSA obtained the PECAL 2110 certification, accrediting its capability as a reliable manufacturer of custom-designed military trailers.
After several decades of industrial activity, the company focused its business exclusively on the manufacture of military trailers and semi-trailers, integrating the accumulated knowledge from civil heavy-tonnage applications and defence programmes.
